Employee training is a common part of the onboarding process. When new people join your team, they need to be trained in the various aspects of their job and your company. This might include teaching them how to use any specific software you have, explaining rules regarding health & safety and so on. In a traditional workplace, there are many ways you can train your employees. A lot of it is done on the job, but you can set aside specific training days for them as well.

But, what happens if you have remote employees? They work from home, so how are you able to train them properly? Many business owners forget about this when hiring remote workers, only to wonder why productivity and efficiency drops. To avoid this, and ensure your company grows when you hire new workers, here are two tips to train people remotely:

Train through an LMS

An LMS – learning management system – is a software application that is basically designed to help you train your employees from afar. You can call upon external help to create these courses, but the aim is that you provide your employees with all the training they need.

What’s more, because you are the one that sets these courses, you can set the pass marks or requirements for passing a course. It means that you can feel 100% confident that an employee has undergone the necessary training if they have passed a course. Train through video meetings

Another idea is to train your employees through video calls or meetings. This is a good idea as it means you can see and speak to your workers, guiding them through different things. Many employers like this method when they have new employees or they start using new software. It’s good to get all the employees on the same call where you can walk them through the software and show them how to use all the different features.

It’s not as flexible as the previous approach, which is why it’s best in situations like the above. When there’s something new that demands instant attention, this is where video meetings are great.

In either case, these two options are fantastic if you want to train your remote employees. Now, there’s no excuse to forget about this. If anything, the methods are so effective that a lot of businesses are using them even if they don’t have remote employees. Remember, trained employees will always be more efficient and productive than untrained ones!
