As a parent business owner, you do not get a minute to yourself anymore. You’re constantly working, looking after your kids, or just generally being busy. But as 2019 comes to a close, it’s time to stop and reflect. It’s time to think about your year, maybe even your life, and evaluate how you got here and where you want to go in the future. There are a lot of benefits for taking the time to stop and reflect, so let’s cover them now.
Renewed Focus and Clarity
Retrospection is an important part of maintaining focus and clarity. If you take the time to think about your year, you will probably finish by having a renewed idea of where you want to go as a business owner and a parent. You look at all the events that led to this point in the year, you reflect on how they made you feel, and the decisions you took, and ultimately you arrive at the conclusions that will serve you well in the future.
Appreciation For What You Have
Taking the time to stop and reflect on the year will give you an appreciation for what you have even more. It’s not difficult to see how people could be appreciative of the things they have in their lives, but sometimes it’s easy to forget exactly how important something is. You become so fixated on moving forward and progressing that you stop to remember why it is you’re progressing in the first place.
Stopping in reflecting is good in this regard because it helps you to realise what it is that you still have. You walk away with a new appreciation of the people and the things in your life you take for granted, and that’s fantastic.
You might not know this, but stopping in to reflect on your year is a sign of maturity and helps to better self-worth. If you look at your year as being a collection of experiences, both good and bad, then you start to appreciate just exactly what you’ve managed to get through. You can see your journey from the beginning of the year to the end, and this usually makes you feel better about the bad things, and remind you that you’re a pretty great person.
So overall, these are just a few other different reasons why you should stop and reflect at the end of the year. It’s important to understand where you’ve been to figure out where you’re going, and a lot of people just don’t do this. They don’t stop and think about the important things in life, and so they often struggle when it comes to getting the most from their experiences. What you have to try and figure out is that when it comes to reflection, it’s important, to be honest. Look at your year objectively. You need to understand where you could’ve improved, what you need to do to make 2020 better, and above all else how you feel about life.
Here is the problem that you will face when running a business. Something a lot of people don’t realise is that when it comes to mindset blocks, there can be a lot of things stopping you from reaching your best.
As a parent entrepreneur, time is even more precious. Therefore, you have to work past these problems quickly. Thankfully, this is completely achievable if you know how to overcome mindset blocks. Let’s look at three tips here and now.
Find a Different Perspective
Perspective is so important. You have to be able to look at things in a different way to solve problems. Sometimes, our viewpoints as individuals aren’t the best reference points for making a judgement or solving a problem. Therefore, it could be really important to look at your business from the perspective of an outsider.
By learning how to look at the situation in a different way, you can learn how to work past a mindset block, because it doesn’t exist for the person you are looking at the situation as. When you take away the inside viewpoint, and the investment of the owner, you sometimes find a solution.
Take a Creative Holiday
It’s safe to assume that as a parent business owner, the chance for breaks doesn’t come around that much. When you’re not working, you’re looking after your kids. However, this doesn’t leave any time for you. You don’t get to recharge your batteries and refocus your mind.
You need to take a creative holiday from time to time. It just needs to be a few days away from the office and away from the demands of your business. It might give you the inspiration that you need to break through the mindset block if you’re doing something completely different.
Develop Small Habits
Small habits can be a godsend. You often underestimate them and don’t think they’ll be any help to you, but cultivating a small habit that you can do every day can be a real help. It’s these consistent effort that yield the biggest rewards because you convince yourself slowly that you can overcome this block.
Start by doing tiny things every day. They could be taking five minutes for yourself, or it could be answering all your emails first thing. Whatever you do, be consistent with it. It should start to help you overcome your block by convincing your brain that change is possible.
In conclusion, there’s a lot of things that you can do to overcome a mindset block within your business. They can be a massive issue, and a lot of people don’t know how best to tackle them. However, if you are consistent and determined, you’ll soon find that you don’t need to make a grand sweeping gesture or anything. The best results can come from doing small things and pushing yourself to be better than before. You can do anything you need to do, just make sure that you are trying your best and that you don’t give up.

Mindset block can be a particularly damaging thing. It’s natural to want to push forward and strive for the best, but when you have a mindset block it’s difficult to do that. When you’re a parent entrepreneur, it becomes even more challenging because you have to try and overcome this block at the same time as doing everything else, like looking after your kids and running a business.
To try and give you a hand with this, what we thought we would do is take a look at some of the different things you can do to make sure you overcome a mindset block when it strikes.
Identify The Problem
The first thing that you’re going to want to try and do is identify the problem. A mindset block can be a tricky thing, but finding the source is the best way to make sure you overcome it.
This involves some introspection. You need to look deep within yourself and identify what the problem is. What can’t you visualise? What piece of the puzzle is inaccessible to you? If you don’t know what the mindset block is, you can’t begin to break it down. If you’re struggling, try talking to a partner or a trusted friend. They might be able to help you out.
Take a Small Action
Okay. So you’ve identified the problem. You understand what the mindset block is, the form it’s taken. But how do you go about breaking that block, and overcoming the challenge that has been put before you?
Well, what we find is that small, consistent actions are the best way to overcome mindset blocks. Let’s take an example, and say that your mindset block is going out and socialising. You’ve been raising your kids for all these years, you’re running a business, and so you don’t know if you can make time for social interactions any more. A small, consistent action might be just to go and get a coffee every day. Or wander down to the local shop every other day. It’s just about doing something that slowly starts to break down that block.
The final step of the process is to reward yourself. You have made a deliberate effort to change the way that things are at the moment. That is incredible. Well done! Reward yourself with something that you think will make you happy. You have to celebrate these little successes if you want to tackle the big stuff.
And speaking of the big stuff, it’s time to do something else. Identify another small and consistent thing you can do to overcome the mindset block. Incorporate it into your daily routine, and move on. Keep pushing in the right direction, and you will get past this.
To summarise, getting passed a mindset block is a difficult thing to do sometimes. We are not denying that they can have a profound impact on a parent entrepreneur. But you have to try and keep pushing. You have to try and be brave. Only you can overcome this barrier. You can get support from your friends and family, and we encourage you to do that, but the final push is down to you. And you can do it, but you just have to believe in yourself first.

To have a lack of confidence is not uncommon – many of us deal with insecurities and doubts about how good we are. As a parent business owner, you often have double the concerns – are you good at either part of your life?
However, there are some bad habits which can knock your confidence that we are all guilty of from time to time. We thought that we would list some of them for you, to try and help you identify them and get rid of them.
One bad habit you can have, which will ruin your confidence, is to compare yourself to someone else all the time. It’s natural to want to measure yourself up against a rival to try and find out how good you are, but doing it when it isn’t necessary will damage the way you look at yourself. To try and avoid this, you need to break the cycle of making comparisons which aren’t relevant to the situation or which have no use to you. Remember that you have your own set of unique talents and skills to bring to a business that no one else can offer.
If we asked everyone to say whether or not they second-guessed their actions all the time, a lot of people would probably say that they do. However, this type of activity is dangerous. It becomes easy to doubt yourself and second-guess everything that you do and say. Once that happens, you start to lose confidence in even the most basic of tasks. To resolve this, you need to make sure that you are avoiding second-guessing yourself where possible. Trust your gut, and remember that there is a lot you can do without having to question it.
Trying to Prove Something
Okay, so while it is natural to want to compete with people, some take it a step too far. They see everything as a constant battle and set out to prove themselves superior in every instance. All that happens is that eventually, they find that they do not match up in some areas, and this destroys their confidence. Part of running a successful business, especially as a patent, is realising that you have nothing to prove to anyone. You do not have to attempt to showcase your skills to the world continually – the right people will come along in good time because you are what they need.
Overall, it is easy to find yourself engaging in bad habits that damage your confidence. You should try and break these wherever you can because they have such a massive impact on you and your life. Remember that when it comes to businesses and raising children, there is no preset formula for success. It is down to the individual, and their ideas about what makes something worthwhile. You need to judge yourself according to your beliefs and ideals, and no one else’s, because their opinions do not matter as much as you think.
No matter how awesome you are, there is a good chance that you would love to be a better person. A strong person. Someone who is more aware of the feelings of others around them. There are plenty of ways that you can be kinder to yourself and improve not only the way you feel but how others feel about you too.
Gratitude is something that seems to be underestimated, and this is a real shame, as there is a power behind gratitude.
Don’t believe us? We have put together some of the benefits of gratitude that you may not even realise right now.
It makes us happier
Okay, so this isn’t that much of a secret. But being grateful is a great way to improve your overall feelings of happiness. One of the simplest ways that it does this is by reminding us of all the wonderful things that surround us, and this cannot help but make you feel a whole lot happier.
It makes people think well of us
Think about it this way. Are you going to want to hang around with someone who is down about what they have, or someone who is a whole lot more appreciative? Being aware of all the amazing things in your life means that you will become somewhat of a happiness magnet, attracting others and spreading your happiness far and wide.
It could give your business a boost
Being grateful for your business. Simply telling yourself how lucky you are means that you will be more motivated to work harder. This is the type of thing that will get noticed by the clients and customers.
It stops jealousy
One of the ugliest emotions that a person can feel is jealousy. That feeling that you want something that someone else has. That you are not particularly fond of them for having it. The trouble with jealousy is that it has no bearing on anyone but you. This means that maybe it would be better to focus your thoughts on things you do have, rather than the things that you don’t.
A little positivity goes a long way
You cannot underestimate the power of positivity. Not only does it make you smile, but that smile can be infectious and spread around you. Gratitude is not only great for helping you to reflect on all the awesome things in your life. But is also great to help others to take a look at the awesome things in their lives too.
Sometimes it can be hard to be grateful for things, particularly when life is getting you down. But no matter whether work is stressful, or your kids are misbehaving, there is always something out there to make you feel good.
Focus on these awesome things, and in no time at all, you will be feeling a whole lot more grateful about life in general.
Mindset is more important that you may think. This is particularly true for those people who are running their own business as well as raising a family.
The life of a parentpreneur isn’t an easy one, and there is a need to share your time between these two important parts of your life. This can be tricky, however, you can make life that little bit easier for yourself by adopting some positive mindset changes, rather than negative ones.

Your business is important, of course, it is, but your family are just as important. This means that you should always plan to make time for your partner and for your children.
Even if you are busy, and have lots of things that you need to do, you still need to factor in this valuable family time. This means turning off the phone or laptop and focusing on those important people instead.
Make your income passively

Guilt is a natural feeling for those that are not focusing all their time on their children. However, it is definitely a mindset that needs to be changed. There is no reason to feel guilty, you need to remember that you are doing your very best for your family by setting up your own business.
You may be spending less time focused on your family, however, in the long run, you will be able to spend much more time with them.
Thinking about the long-term goal is key when it comes to banishing guilt, as this will give you something to look forward to.
So, now you know, the 3 mindsets that every parentpreneur needs to adopt when it comes to making a success of their business. Why not try them out for yourself and see if you can change the way you think, and the way that you behave when it comes to business.

Being successful isn’t easy, and it takes time. Some of the most successful business people out there know that they need to keep working at their success, and this means taking small steps each and every day.
Want to know more about how to creep towards the success that you crave? Here are some of the small things that you can do on a daily basis to help your cause.
Get up early
One of the common traits you will see in successful people is that they get up early every day. Some use the extra time to exercise and get themselves ready for the day, others will start by reading through their emails and making sure that they are up to date with what they need to do.
There are also people who like to get up early in the morning as it means that they can spend some decent time with their family before everyone’s day starts.
If you work from home, chances are that you will be surrounded by plenty of tasty, but not very healthy snacks. You should try to stay away from naughty treats as much as possible. Whilst the odd biscuit isn’t going to hurt, foods that are packed full of sugar are never good for you, and this means that you may find yourself having sugar crashes throughout the day.
Always do the big important tasks first
It is no secret that you are at your best at the beginning of the day. This means that any tasks that you need to really focus on should always be top of your list. Not only can you give it 100%, but it also means that it will be done and dusted and you can carry on with the other bits that you need to do.
Have a work and play schedule
Getting distracted is one of the hardest parts of working from home, and this is something that strikes even the most successful people. A great way to combat this is to have a work and play schedule, a timetable of when you need to knuckle down and also when you can have a rest away from the laptop. That way, if you are feeling distracted, you can simply look forward to your next break.
Get up and active
If you are feeling tired and worn out, then you may need to get yourself up and moving. Sometimes just sitting still can leave you feeling less than energised. Make sure that you give yourself time to move away from the laptop. Walk up and down the stairs, do some work in the garden or go for a walk. Just make sure that you are doing something active.
It can be lonely working from home, and even the most successful people take some time out to spend it with their nearest and dearest. Try to have a day every week or two weeks where you see a friend for coffee or lunch. That way, you will keep up your social interaction and keep the loneliness at bay!
There you have it, some of the ideas of ways that you can try your best to be successful each and every day. Why not try them out for yourself and see what works best for you?
It is challenging for parents to fulfil their family as well as business responsibilities at the same time. Being a parent entrepreneur, you are required to create a good balance between your personal and professional life. It is a fact that you get loaded with a range of tasks as soon as you become a parent. Let it be your children’s nursery fees, their health, and safety and more, you need to pay proper attention to make sure all their needs are being met. With all the unavoidable responsibilities, it gets difficult to focus on the core processes of your business.
Many parent entrepreneurs, instead of working hard, are unable to drive favourable results for their business. The reason behind the slow progress is a weak opportunity mindset. Parent entrepreneurs have thousands of things running through their minds. They usually lose their focus and miss out on opportunities that might take their business to the next level.
To make your business more productive and progressive, it is essential to have a good and clear mindset that emphasizes on opportunities. It is wise to opt for the ways that hit the sweet spot. Having an impactful opportunity mindset would help you look for the best possible opportunities that might turn your business around. You can create long-lasting relationships with your customers if you provide them with the things they want the most. All you need is an “Opportunity Mindset” to look for the opportunities and make the most of them.
Here are some of the tips to create an Opportunity Mindset:
It is of utmost importance to have a good understanding of yourself. To create an effective opportunity mindset, it is essential to keep your likes, dislikes, and goals in your mind. The more you know yourself, the more you are likely to achieve your targets. You will be able to create a positive mindset which, in turn, will help you implement new ideas every day.
Focus on your capabilities
Focus on your qualities and strive to enhance them. You can turn yourself into a professional and successful business owner if you realise your potential. Look for your passions and try to incorporate them into your business procedures. Be determined and focused on the smooth running of your business.
Understand business strategies
Being a business owner, you should have a clear idea of what you want. You are required to have a good understanding of the business strategies. Implementing strategies without keeping their outcomes in mind is a waste of time and energy. Therefore, it is paramount to understand the tactics before applying so that you can meet your business requirements professionally.
Know your potential customers
Know your potential customers and be aware of their preferences. Customise your products as per their specifications. You are likely to gain their trust if you offer things that satisfy their expectations.
You should keep track of your competitors as well. Be observant and look for the businesses that leave the market. You can leverage the opportunity and bring your business in front of the target audience by offering better services or products.
“I believe there’s a calling for all of us. I know that every human being has value and purpose. The real work of our lives is to become aware. And awakened. To answer the call.” Oprah Winfrey
Making the decision to leave employment and set up a business is never easy. You will have numerous questions such as how do I start? How do I make a living doing in the real world? What is going to change and how do I feel about that?
What gets your heart pumping and captivates you?
Start with what you are good at. What do you already enjoy doing and what skills do you have? Pay attention to the skills people compliment you on because it may be a clear message that you should be pursuing that. This will be the type of work that gets you up in the morning, it will make your heart sing when you are working, and you’ll think about it in your off time.

The positive opportunity mindset
Get started promptly; don’t wait because your business success is essentially determined by your actions. If you believe that you can be successful in your business, you will be. Self-motivation and keeping an optimistic perspective is vitally important along the entrepreneurial journey. You will face obstacles and it’s important to keep a positive mindset and to surround yourself with similar people who are on the same journey as you.
“Follow your dreams. I am not saying it’s going to be easy, but I am saying it’s going to be worth it.” Moffat Machingura Click to Tweet
Accept the challenge
Nobody will reach out and give you what you want, you need to go out and grab it. Developing strong imaginary faculties is a practice. Start out loud. Speak your vision. Draw your vision. Write it in words. Assign a scent to it. Associate a feeling. Listen to it. Bring it to life with all your senses.
Stay positive and focused on your business, reminding yourself repeatedly of your purpose and calling, whatever we focus on becomes our reality. By constantly focusing on where you want to be you will find out that it’s the direction you will go.
